It was founded in 2013 by a team of passionate parents who launched a groundbreaking product called the Owlet Smart Sock. This market-exclusive innovation tracks the heart and oxygen levels of newborns and notifies parents via smartphone if levels leave preset ranges. We’re searching for a qualified individual who is as passionate as us about the Owlet mission to join us as our Director of Hardware Engineering.

Here’s what we’ll find on our newest hire’s resume:

  • A background and skill set that stands out above our other candidates
  • Experience in mass production, continues product improvement, and fleet management of high-tech consumer electronic devices
  • Extensive skills in schematic capture and PCB layout for ultra-low noise, mixed-signal circuits, and RF circuits (proficiency in Altium is preferred)
  • Experience with taking electronic designs from concept all the way through mass production and retail (consumer electronics preferred)
  • Experience with developing and validating the manufacturing process

Here’s how you’ll help fulfill Owlet’s vision with this role:

  • Build upon current Owlet hardware designs with the goals of increasing hardware performance while decreasing cost
  • Maximize the use of available space while working within limiting size constraints
  • Help with firmware development for new hardware designs, writing initial firmware for testing and/or proof of concept as well as supporting the firmware team through further development
  • Collaborate with the design team to discuss physical size limitations and to make sure the user experience requirements are being met as best they can
  • Assist the manufacturing team as needed in development of hardware test fixtures and jigs for programming, testing, and quality control
  • Help management in estimation of timelines and development of work plans to successfully reach project goals
  • Work with third-party engineers to collaborate on and review designs
  • Help to improve current and future RF design to increase range and efficiency
