Devops Engineer at Owlet Baby Care

Owlet’s Product Development Team is searching for a driven, experienced, and innovative Devops Engineer. The ideal candidate is well versed in DevOps technologies, automation, infrastructure orchestration, configuration management and continuous integration. They are also very passionate about innovation and quality. The candidate will report directly to the Director of Software. This is an awesome opportunity for someone to help create some forward-thinking and innovative products!


  • Be the engineering champion of the Software Development Lifecycle for ALL software systems.
  • Focus on Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment. 
  • Build and maintain deployment tools/procedures for applications
  • Create a maintainable system that handles device firmware releases/updates.
  • Build monitoring and alerting around our processes, systems and services.
  • Manage network, application and data security
  • Write detailed commit messages and release documentation
  • Have ownership of your development through design prototyping and implementation
  • Deliver a resilient, robust and durable solutions.
  • Have great debugging skills and can investigate hard-to-reproduce crashes.
  • Be meticulous and detailed oriented
  • Work closely with project managers, Director of Software, and follow established processes
  • Participate in regular code reviews.


  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years experience developing backend applications and webservices.
  • Proficient in SQL, No-SQL, Python, Java, NodeJS
  • Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
  • Experience with Orchestration/Configuration Management and Continuous Integration technologies (e.g. CircleCi, Jenkins)
  • Experience with Symfony 2, Laravel, 
  • Experience with GCP, AWS/Azure, Firebase
  • Experience with unit test frameworks
  • Experience with Networking/Firewall
  • Experience with Virtualization; Kubernetes
  • Must be comfortable working independently as well as in a team
  • Experience with source control, preferably git
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
